Michael Szczesny of the town of Carson died at St. Michael’s hospital at 5 o’clock Sunday afternoon. He had been a patient at the hospital for 10 days and underwent an operation for appendicitis a week ago.
The deceased was born in German-Poland September 16, 1849 and came to this country in 1881. He was a farmer by trade and resided in Portage county practically all of the time since coming to Wisconsin.
Besides the widow, nine children survive. The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock from St Bartholomew’s church at Mill Creek.

The funeral of the late Michael Szesney was held from St. Bartholomew’s church at Mill Creek this morning at 9:30 o’clock. The Rev. T. Malkowski, Rev.S. Lapinski and Rev. P. Borowski officiated.
The pallbearers were chosen from among members of St. Bartholomew’s society of which the deceased was a member. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.

Mrs. Lora Szczesny
Mrs. Lora Szczesny, age 87, of the town of Carson, died at 1:20 o’clock at St. Michael’s hospital. She broke her hip and suffered a stroke six years ago, which confined her to bed since. She had made her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Szczesny, in Carson since her illness.
Mrs. Szczesny was born on April 12, 1860, in Poland, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Wilgush. Her marriage to Michael Szczensy took place in Poland and the couple came to this country in 1881. After residing in Buffalo, N.Y. for a year they came to Stevens Point. They lived here for a year and then located on a farm in the town of Carson which they purchased. A short time after her husband’s death, Mrs. Szczesny came to Stevens Point to reside, in 1923, after a residence of 40 years on the farm. She lived here until her illness.
Surviving are five children, Mrs. John Eron of Dexterville, Mrs. John Dulak of the town of Dewy, Joseph of Carson and John and Peter of Muskegon, Mich., 56 grandchildren. Six children preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Boston funeral home and burial will follow in DePines cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home until the time of the services.

Frank SZCZESNY died Monday morning at 4 o'clock at the home of his parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Mike SZCZESNY, who live near the boom house. His death was due to tuberculosis, with which he had been a sufferer for more than three years.
Mr. SZCZESNY was born October 27, 1881 and has always lived in this county. On June 18, 1906 he was married to Miss Martha GRUBBA, who, with her three small children, survive him. He is also survived by his parents, four brother, Steve, Joseph, John and Peter, and four sisters, Mrs. John ARON (ERON), Carson; Mrs. SMIADOWSKI (SNIADAJEWSKI), Plover, Mrs. DUAK (DULAK), Dewey, and Kordelia (Kunegunda) at home.

Mrs. Martha Chesney, 929 Franklin St, died at St Michael’s hospital at 8:25 o’clock this morning. She had been in ill health the past two years and confined in bed the last two months. She was admitted to the hospital by ambulance Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Chesney was born in the town of Carson January 7, 1888, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Grubba. She lived in Carson as a girl, remaining at the home of her parents until her marriage to Frank Chesney, of Carson, which took place at St Bartholomew’s church at Mill Creek on June 18, 1906. They located at Plainfield where they operated a restaurant for several years. The family subsequently reside on a farm in the town of Linwood until the time of Mr. Chesney’s death on July 24, 1916. The family then moved to Stevens Point. For 16 years prior to her illness, Mrs. Chesney was an employee of the Consolidated Water Power and Paper Company.
She is survived by her parents in the town of Carson; three daughters, Eve Stevens Point, Valeria of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Frank Vdzieblowski of Chicago; five brothers, Steve and Leo Grubba of Stevens Point, Charles of Seattle, Washington, and Nick and Peter of Chicago; four sisters, Mrs. Roman Poterek of Chicago, Mrs. Roy Specht and Mrs. Marion Scheisman of Seattle and Mrs. Floyd Popple of Peoria, Illinois. There are three grandchildren. Two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 9 o’clock Monday morning at St Peter’s Catholic church of which she was a member. Burial will take place in Guardian Angel cemetery. The body is at the Crosby funeral home.

Mrs. Martha DULAK, 65, town of Dewey, a resident of Portage County nearly all her life, died Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at St. Michael's Hospital after an illness of two months.
The former Martha SZCZESNEY was born in the town of Carson Dec. 3, 1888, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael SZCZESNEY. She was married at St, Bartholomew's Catholic Church, Mill Creek, on Jan. 22, 1906, to John DULAK.
The couple lived in Laona and the town of Buena Vista for a short time after their marriage and then settled on a farm in Dewey 44 years ago.
Mr. DULAK died Dec. 11, 1972.

The remains of the late Private Stephen F SZCZESNY, son of Laura SZCZESNY of the town of Carson, who died overseas on Chrismas day in 1918, arrived in St Point on an early morning train and have been taken to the family home. The flag-draped coffin was shipped from Hoboken, NJ and accompanied from Chicago by a serviceman. The funeral will be held from St Bartholomew's Catholic Church at Mill Creek next Tuesday at 9 o'clock, Rev S LAPINSKI officiating and burial following in the parish cemetery.
Private SZCZESNY, who was 30 years old, went to Camp Grant July 24, 1918, 3 days after the death of his father, Michael SZCZESNY, which occurred at the family home.
He arrived in France in the fall of that year and was taken sick with stomach trouble on Nov 14. From shortly after that date until the time of his death he was confined to a hospital in France. A few days before the end came he parents received a letter stating he hoped to be home again soon. He served in Company F, 112th Infantry.

He married Helen Cisewski Jan. 28, 1919, in the Town of Hull. They farmed in Carson until 1962, when they retired and move to Hull. Mr. Szczesny’s wife died the same year, and in 1966 he moved to Schofield to live with a daughter, Mrs. Theodore (Marion) Marcis.
He was s member of the Associated bible Students Church of Wausau.
Surviving are a son, Leonard, Villa Park, Ill; three daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Nelson, Prospect Heights, Ill., Mrs. Anthony (Esther) Clupik Jr., Parkridge, Ill., and Mrs. Marcis; a brother, Peter, Muskegon, Mich., eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and five sisters.

John DULAK, age 56, a town of Dewey farmer, died Friday night at 11:05 o'clock at S1, Michael's hospital. He had been in ill health for five years and entered the hospital on November 30.
Mr. DULAK was born on March 1, 1886, in the town of New Hope, a son of the late Stephen and Mary DULAK. He made his home in New Hope most of the time until his marriage. He was married on January 22, 1903, to Martha SZCZESNEY of Mill Creek at S1, Bartholomews's Catholic church. After their marriage the couple lived in Leona where Mr. DULAK was employed in a saw mill. They remained there four years and then returned to Portage County. After residing on a farm in Buena Vista for a year they located on the present farm in Dewey.
Mr DULAK was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Torun. He was a former director of the Rockland School in Dewey for 12 years.
Surviving are his wife; 13 children, Mrs. Barney DANCZYK, Mrs. Theodore GONSIOROWSKI and Mrs. Felix Danczyk of Dewey, Mrs. John HELMINIAK of Manitowoc, Miss Martha DULAK. of

Survivors include three sons, Leo SNIADAJEWSKI, 3112 Post Rd., Walter W., 136 Tommy's Turnpike, and Peter SANDS, Milwaukee; one daughter, Miss Hedwig SNIADAJEWSKI, Route 5, Stevens Point, and 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Albert A. Vicker, 82, Winneconne, died Monday morning, August 31, 1992, at his home.
He was born August 2, 1910, in the Mill Creek, the son of the late Frank and Pauline Chesney Vicker.
In his early years he was employed in Milwaukee, where he married Hildegard Ebert on April 9, 1942. They made their home and farmed in Caroline for five years and then moved to the town of Winneconne where he farmed until his retirement in the late 1950s. His wife preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 1978. In the mid-1980s he married Louise Seruga and she preceded him in death on Nov. 12, 1990.
Surviving are a son and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Bonnie Jo Vicker, Norwalk, Conn; a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Frank Graham, Marietta, Ga; a sister Agnes Belczark, Milwaukee; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday morning at the Mueller Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Krell officiating. Burial was in Greenleaf Cemetery in Marion.
