     Alexander Mathias Ostrowski was born on 11 February 1858 at Czapiewice, Chojnice, Bydgoszcz, West Prussia.² He was the son of Casimer Ostrowski and Rosalia Czapiewska.¹ Alexander Mathias Ostrowski was baptized on 14 February 1858 at Brusy, Chojnice, Bydgoszcz, West Prussia.² The following date, 24 February 1856,was also recorded as the birth date of Alexander Mathias, as stated in his obituary.³ He emigrated on 19 April 1869 aboard the Louise Kohn along with his parents Casimer Ostrowski and Rosalia Czapiewska, having departed from Hamburg, Germany. The ship arrived at the Port of Quebec. From there the family continued on and arrived at the Port of Milwaukee around June 1869.^4,5,6 Alexander Mathias Ostrowski appeared on the 1870 Federal Census of Town of Sharon, Portage Co, WI, in the household of his parents, Casimer Ostrowski and Rosalia Czapiewska.¹ Alexander Mathias Ostrowski appeared on the 1880 Federal Census of Town of Sharon, Portage Co, WI in the household of his parents, Casimer Ostrowski and Rosalia Czapiewska.⁷ Alexander Mathias Ostrowski married Catherine Hintz on 30 January 1883 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Polonia, Portage Co, WI.^3,8 Alexander Mathias Ostrowski died on 2 November 1934 at Town of New Hope, Portage Co, WI, at age 76.³

     Alexander Ostrowski, who died Friday morning at 7 o’clock at his farm home in the town of New Hope, was a resident of Portage county most of his life. He had been in ill health for only the past few days. Mr. Ostrowski was born in Poland on February 24, 1856. He came to this country at the age of seven with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Casimir Ostrowski. The family located in the town of Sharon where Alexander Ostrowski was married to Miss Catherine Hintz in January, 1883. The couple continued to live in Sharon and 30 years ago moved to the present farm home in the town of New Hope. Mrs. Ostrowski passed away on September 4, 1934. Surviving are six daughters and six sons, Mrs. John Dombrowski of Fancher, Mrs. Frank Daczik and Frank Ostrowski of the town of Sharon, Mrs. Leo Ritcher Of Wausau, Mrs. Ben Bardon, Mrs. Barney Glinecki, Mrs. Theodore Jakubek and Tom Ostrowski of Milwaukee, Martin Ostrowski and Teofel Ostrowski of New Hope, Andrew Ostrowski of the town of Alban and August Ostrowski, 1114 Wisconsin Avenue; a brother, Theodore Ostrowski of the town of Alban; a sister, Mrs. John Krusicki of the town of Stockton, and 57 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9:30 o’clock at Polonia. Rev. Leo Jankowski will officiate and burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The body was taken today from the Prais funeral home to the family home in New Hope, where it will be until the time of the funeral.
