Edwin (Pat) Polebitski

     Edwin (Pat) Polebitski was born on 26 May 1915 at Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI. He was the son of John Polebitski and Pearl Schultz. Edwin (Pat) Polebitski died on 21 November 1992 at Whiting, Portage Co, WI, at age 77.

Edwin (Pat) Polebitski

Edwin (Pat) Polebitski, 77, 3200 Water St., died Saturday, Nov. 21, 1992, at River Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He had been in ill health the past two years and a resident at River Pines for nine days.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Dennis Lynch will officiate and burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Polebitski was born May 26, 1915, in Stevens Point, a son of the late John and Pearl (Schultz) Polebitski. He attended St. Peter Grade School and graduated from Emerson High School. He then worked at various drug stores and Point Sporting Goods until going to work in the maintenance department at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in 1965. He retired in 1977. He lived on Water Street the past 20 years.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include a brother, Stanley 'Soo Line' (Jo), 2263 S. Highway P.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Stanley (Soo Line) Polebitski

     Stanley (Soo Line) Polebitski was born on 4 July 1917 at Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI. He was the son of John Polebitski and Pearl Schultz. Stanley (Soo Line) Polebitski married Johanna Elizabeth Hintz on 9 July 1955 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI. Stanley (Soo Line) Polebitski died on 17 December 2001 at Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI, at age 84.

Stanley A. 'Soo Line' Polebitski, 84, Stevens Point, died early Monday, Dec. 17, 2001, at the Portage County Health Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Shuda Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Stanley was born July 4, 1917, in Stevens Point, a son of the late John and Pearl (Schultz) Polebitski. He was married to Joan Hintz-Kluck at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in July 1955.

Stanley served in the U.S. Army from Oct. 5, 1940, to Aug. 19, 1945. He was discharged as a first sergeant, Battery A, 129FA 32nd Infantry Division.

He was awarded the Distinguished Unit Badge with Bronze Cluster, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Medal, two Battle Stars, five Overseas Bars and the American Defense Service Ribbon. He was recalled to active duty during the Berlin Crisis from October 1961 to August 1962, where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.

He later made a career in the Wisconsin Army National Guard. He retired in 1976 with the rank of chief warrant officer.

He served as clerk of the town of Linwood for 10 years.

Survivors include a son, Mark (Mary) Polebitski, Waupaca; a daughter, Mary (John) Jungbluth, Dubuque, Iowa; three stepdaughters, Patricia (Gary) Phillips, Wisconsin Rapids, Susan (Jim) Farrell, South Beloit, Ill., and Karen (Doug) Pagel, Wisconsin Rapids; two stepsons, David (Dorothy) Kluck, Stevens Point, and Dan (Colleen) Kluck, Rosholt; 26 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Alfred John Polebitski

     Alfred John Polebitski was born on 22 April 1910 at Rhinelander, Oneida Co, WI. He was the son of John Polebitski and Pearl Schultz. Alfred John Polebitski married Sophia Rita Walloch on 28 August 1939 at Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI. Alfred John Polebitski died on 21 September 1980 at Vilas Co, WI, at age 70.

Alfred J. Polebitski

Alfred J. Polebitski, 70, 624 Bukolt Ave., died Sunday of an apparent heart attack while fishing in Vilas County.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Chester Moczarny will officiate. Burial will be in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Dzikoski Funeral Home. St. Peter's Holy Name Society, of which he was a member, will combine with the general rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Polebitski was born April 22, 1910, in Rhinelander, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Polebitski. He grew up and attended schools in Stevens Point. He married Sophia Walloch on Aug. 29, 1939, at St. Peter's Church. The couple settled here.
He was employed by the Worzalla Publishing Co. until entering the Army on Feb. 12, 1944. He served in Rhineland and Central Europe and was discharged as a private first class on March 18, 1946. He returned to Stevens Point and was a self-employed cement contractor until retiring in 1972.
Mr. Polebitski was a member of Berens-Scribner Post No. 6, American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; one son, John, Custer; four brothers, Chester, Merrill, Edwin, 3200 Water St., Stanley, 2263 S. County Trunk P, and Jerome, 1212A 2nd St; and three grandchildren.

Albin Chester John Polebitski married Lucille Mary Stachura, daughter of Jacob Stachura and Stella Gill, on 17 February 1947 at Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI. Albin Chester John Polebitski died on 18 July 1981 at Merrill, Lincoln Co, WI, at age 69.

Chester Polebitski

A former Stevens Point resident, Chester Polebitski, 69, Merrill, died Saturday.
His death occurred at Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill.
Mr. Polebitski had been a Merrill business man for 25 years, and owned the East Side Floral Shop there.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Convent Chapel, Merrill, with the Rev. James Dabruzzi officiating, and burial will be in St. Francis' Cemetery there.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday morning until the time of the service as the Wistein Funeral Home, Merrill. The rosary will be said there Tuesday night at 7:30 and an Eagles ritual is scheduled for 8:30.
Mr. Polebitski was born in Stevens Point Jan. 18, 1912, a son of John and Pearl (Schulz)(sp.) Polebitski. He was married here Feb. 17, 1947, to Lucille Stachura.
Mr. Polebitski was a world War II Army veteran, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
He was a member of the East Side Business Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and the Eagles.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Richard, Merrill; two daughters, Patricia Peeters, Merrill, and Susan Polebitski, Dubuque, Iowa; three brothers, Edwin, Stanley an Jerome, Stevens Point; and five grandchildren.

He married Linda Tillie Schultz, daughter of Frank Anton Schultz and Tillie Theresa Hintz, on 1 June 1974 at Torun, Portage Co, WI. Eugene Sobish died on 22 September 1989 at Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI, at age 39.

Sobish Services

Eugene A. Sobish, 39, 5497 Jordan Road, town of Hull, died in the emergency room at St. Michael's Hospital on Friday. He was taken there by ambulance after being stricken at home.
Services will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Church of Torun. The Rev. Edwin J. Stanek will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call after 3:30 p.m. today at the Dzikoski/Pisarski Funeral Home. The American Legion Post 6 and the Greater Polonia Polish Legoin of American Veterans Post 185 will hold a combined ritual at 7 tonight. The general rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m.
Mr. Sobish was born Sept. 10, 1950, in Stevens Point to the late Henry and Frances Sobish. He attended grade school in Stevens Point and graduated from P.J. Jacobs High School in 1969.
He was a Vietman War veteran entering the U.S. Army on March 12, 1970, in Milwaukee. He was a specialist 5th class with the 594th Transportation Company of the Third Army as a truck driver. He received the National Defense Medal, Sharpshooters Medal and the Marksman Badge. He was discharged Nov. 11, 1971, at Fort Campbell, Ken.
After the service he returned to Stevens Point and began working for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier until his death. He was married to the former Linda Schultz on June 1, 1974, at St. Mary Church of Torun. After the marriage, the couple settled at their present address.
Mr. Sobish was an active Pastoral Council member of St. Mary Parish, a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers 381, a member of the Greater Polonia P.L.A.V. Post 185, and a member of the American Legion Post 6 of Stevens Point.
He enjoyed truck driving and rifle deer hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; one son, Jeremy, and one daughter, Holly, both at home; one brother, Jerry (Marilyn) Sobish, town of Hull; and two sisters, Loretta (Stephen) Tuszka, town of Hull, and Cheryl Sobish, town of Hull.
He is preceded in death by his parents.

Jeremy M. Sobish

Jeremy M. Sobish, 19, 5497 Jordan Road, Stevens Point, died uexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999.
Funeral services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Torun. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the time of services at the church on Wednesday. There will be a Bible vigil at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Mr. Sobish was born Sept. 11, 1979, in Stevens Point, the son of Linda (Schultz) Sobish and the late Eugene Sobish.
He attended elementary school at St. Stanislaus and St. Peter schools. He also attended P.J. Jacobs and graduated from Stevens Point Senior High School in 1997.
He was employed at Hardees in Stevens Point for two years. He also worked for Ron Firkus Masonry. At the time of his death, he had been employed at Consolidated Papers, Wisconsin River Division, for the past year.
He enjoyed playing pool and Nintendo. He also enjoyed the company of his friends.
Survivors include his mother, Linda; his maternal grandparents, Frank and Tillie Schultz; one sister, Holly Sobish, Stevens Point; one brother, Zachery Zurawski, at home; one nephew, Cory Sobish; and his fiancee, Kim Kulas.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and special friend, Dale Zurawski.

Elizabeth Piotrowski

     Elizabeth Piotrowski was born on 22 November 1902 at Torun, Portage Co, WI. She was the daughter of Anton Piotrowski. Elizabeth Piotrowski married George F. Schultz Sr., son of Frank F. Schultz and Helen Wrycha, on 1 May 1926 at Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co, WI. Elizabeth Piotrowski died on 20 February 1994 at Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI, at age 91.

Elizabeth Schultz

Elizabeth Schultz, 91, formerly of 2141 Water St., died Sunday, Feb. 20, 1994, at the Portage County Health Care Center. She had been a resident there for the past three years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Rev. Dan Kiedinger will officiate. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Born Nov. 22, 1902, in Torun, town of Dewey, she was the daughter of the late Anton and Frances Piotrowski. She attended schools in Dewey. She was married to George Schultz on May 1, 1926, at St. Casimir Church, Milwaukee. He died May 28, 1960.
After their marriage, the couple lived in Milwaukee for a short time before moving to Stevens Point. She worked at Normington's Laundry for 35 years. Mrs. Schultz was a member of the Catholic Woman's Club and the Secular Order of St. Francis.
She enjoyed traveling, bingo and gardening.
Survivors include three sons, Leonard, Greenfield, George (Darlene), Galesberg, Ill., Dennis (Grace), Conway, Ark; five daughters, Irene (Joseph) Radar, Stevens Point, Lorraine (Doug) Simonis, Lake Tomahawk, Margaret (Dean) Baltz, Rockford, Ill., Elizabeth (Gregory) Knich, West Allis, and Nancy Schultz, New Berlin; 35 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Michael Piotrowski, Steven Point Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She also was preceded in death by a daughter, four sisters and three brothers.

     Margaret Schultz was born on 3 July 1930 at Stevens Point, Portage Co, WI. She was the daughter of George F. Schultz Sr. and Elizabeth Piotrowski. Margaret Schultz married Dean Baltz on 17 August 1951 at Aurora, IL. Margaret Schultz died on 10 August 2000 at Aurora, IL, at age 70.
