He was born Nov. 8, 1896, in Bevent, the son of the late Frank and Francis (Hoppa) Garske Suske. He married Gertrude Schultz on April 20, 1926, at S1, Mary's Catholic Church, Torun, Wis. She survives. John retired from American Can in 1965, where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church, Rothschild.
Survivors besides his wife, Gertrude, include two sons, Leroy (Rita) Suske, Schofield, and Ronald (Karen) Suske, Tomahawk; four daughters, Alice (George) Wallace, S1, Petersburg, Fla., Marge (Duane) Aldrich, Belvidere, Ill., Patricia (Vilas) Platta, Wausau, and Carol (Don) Peolot, Mosinee; one half-brother, Ben Garske, Rothschild; two half-sisters, Helen Plaza, Wausau, and Stella Matis, Wausau; 20 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Dorothy and Grace Suske, a brother, Frank Suske, and two sisters, Matta Danczyk and Martha Suske.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon, today, Dec. 19, 1995, at S1, Mark's Catholic Church, Rothschild. The Rev. A.L. Siowiak will officiate. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, town of Kronenwetter. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. today until the time of services, all at the church.

Mrs. Schultz was born Sept. 13, 1921, in the town of Dewey, the daughter of the late John and Clementine (Breske) Hintz.
She was married to Frank Schultz on Oct. 17, 1942, at St. Mary of Torun. He survives.
After their marriage they settled in the town of Sharon and farmed until 1960. They then moved to their present address and ran Schultz's Bar for the past 39 years.
She was a minister of prayer at St. Mary's of Torun and a lifetime member of the Rosary Society.
She enjoyed playing cards and her grandchildren.

Mrs. Lasky worked for hte Copps Corp. until the time of her semiretirement in 1992. In 1993, she moved to Wausau where she worked for Graebel Moving and Storage. IN 1995, she worked for Eastbay Sports until the time of her illness in September 1997.
She was a former Rosary Society president and was active in St. Mary Catholic Church, Torun, from 1976 to 1988. She enjoyed shows at the Grand Theater, baking, crocheting and gambling.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie (Larry) Omernik, Plover; four brother, Eugene (Bernice), West Bend, James (Marian), Stevens Point, Leroy (Janet), Amherst, and John (Delores), Rosholt; a half sister, Irene Paris, Wausau; and four grandchildren.

Kenneth L. Schultz
Kenneth L. Schultz, 42, Biron, died Saturday afternoon in the emergency room of St. Michael's Hospital. He wa taken there by ambulance after suffering an apparent heart attack while doing yard work along Green Avenue.
He is a former Stevens Point resident and had relatives in the area.

He was married to Donna Shemanski May 23, 1964, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. She survives. The couple settled in Milwaukee for three years and then moved to Fond du Lac. In 1969, they moved to Biron. Mr. Schultz wa employed as a tool specialist for Mercury Marine Co., Fond du Lac.
Survivors besides his wife and mother include two daughters, Sherry and Peggy, both at home; one sister, Mrs. Ted (Elaine) Lasky, 1701 Plover Road, Plover, and four brothers, Eugene, West Bend, James, 5773 Dewey Drive, Dewey, LeRoy, Amherst, and John, Rosholt. His father preceded him in death.

Kenneth L. Schultz
Kenneth L. Schultz, 42, Biron, died Saturday afternoon in the emergency room of St. Michael's Hospital. He wa taken there by ambulance after suffering an apparent heart attack while doing yard work along Green Avenue.
He is a former Stevens Point resident and had relatives in the area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one sister.

Three killed in New Year's crash
Three Portage County residents were killed shortly after the New Year arrived Thursday in a two-car collision just east of Jordan Pond on Highway 66.
Clements L. Konkol, 68, Route 1, Custer, his wife Eleanor P., 62, and Thomas E. Lasky, 19, Route 1, Plover, were pronounced dead on arrival at St. Michael's Hospital after the collision at 1:10 a.m. Thursday.
Portage County Sheriff's Department deputies said Lasky, who was alone in his car, was westbound on 66 when he crossed the centerline into the path of an eastbound auto driven by Konkol.
The Lasky auto was struck broadside by the Konkol vehicle, tearing the Lasky car in half and throwing the driver out.
Deputies said all three persons suffered head injuries, and none were wearing seatbelts. The Lasky auto was demolished and damage was severe to the Konkol auto.
The mishap was the worst New Year's Day accident on Portage County roads in memory and put the 1976 county traffic fatality count at three compared to eight in all of 1975.
The worst crash in Portage County's history occured on Dec. 23, 1967, when six people were fatally injured in a collision on Highway 51, 11 miles north of Stevens Point.
Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Konkol will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Polonia. The Rev. Thaddeus P. Szczerbicki will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call today at the Shuda Funeral Chapel. The Rosary Society of Sacred Heart Church, of which Mrs. Konkol was a member, will pray at 7:30 p.m. St. Isadore's Society, of which their son Richard is a member, will pray with the general rosary at 8 p.m.
Konkol was born Feb. 28, 1907, in the Town of Stockton, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Konkol. He attended school in Fancher and farmed in the Town of Stockton and the Town of Sharon.
He operated the Konkolville Tavern, Polonia, until 1952, and worked as a machine operator at Joerns Funiture Co. until retiring in 1972.
His marriage was to the former Eleanor Richter on April 29, 1931, at Sacred Heart Chruch. The couple lived at the present home address for about 25 years.
Mrs. Konkol was born July 14, 1913, in the Town of Sharon,a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Richter.
Mr. and Mrs. Konkol's survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Edmund (Lorraine) Kurzicki, Route 5, Stevens Point, Mrs. Wayne (Renetta) Miller and Mrs. Thomas (Rosalie) Modrzewski, both of Route 4, Stevens Point; two sons, Richard, Route 1, Custer, and David, Milwaukee; and 10 grandchildren.
Konkol's survivors also include one sister, Mrs. Marlyn (Phyllis) Kreis, Weyauwega, and nine brothers, Henry, Casimir, Chester and Dennis all of Route 2, Amherst, Stephan and Walter, both of Amherst, Barney, Amherst Junction, Ernest, Neenah, and Leonard, Milwaukee.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Frances Simcakoski was born on 19 February 1879 at Town of Hull, Portage Co, WI. She was the daughter of Michael Simcakoski. Frances Simcakoski married Leo Schultz, son of Martin Schultz and Catherine Laskoski, on 25 September 1922 at St. Hyacinth’s Catholic Church, Antigo, Langlade Co, WI.

Leo Schultz, senior memeber of Schultz Bros., grocers at he corner of North Second and Franklin streets, was married at Antigo last Monday morning to Miss Frances Skymczakowski, 351 Fourth avenue, this city. The bride is better recognized by the simplified spelling of her name, Simski.
They were attended ty Frank Przekurat and Miss Emma Basinski, both of whom drove to Antigo with the other couple on Sunday. Rev. Frank A. Nowak, a former Stevens Pointer, tied the nuptial knot.
Mr. and Mrs. Schultz are expected to return this afternoon or Sunday from a trip to Rhinelander, Superior and Milwaukee. They will make their home for the present with the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Simski on Fourth avenue.
The groom has been engaged in business for the past three and one half years. His wife is an expert cook and had been employed at local hotels and restaurants and at River Pines sanatorium. She also spent a year at Miami, Florida.
Frances Simcakoski died on 14 July 1970 at Heritage Nursing Home, Wisconsin Rapids, Wood Co, WI, at age 91.

Mrs. Frances Schultz, 91, died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Heritage Nursing Home, Wisconsin Rapids.
Before entering the nursing home last October, she lived at 1101 Franklin St.
She was the window of Leo Schultz, who with is brother, Anton, operated the Schultz Brothers grocery and meat market at 2nd and Franklin Streets for many years.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, with burial in Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dzikoski Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Friday. St. Peter’s Rosary Society, of which Mrs. Schultz was as member, will say the rosary there at 7 o’clock Friday night and a general rosary is scheduled for 7:30

Word had been received here of the death in Florida of a former resident, Bernice T. Robarge, 71, 167 NE Glendale Ave., Port Charlotte, died Oct. 2 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital there.

Word had been received here of the death in Florida of a former resident, Bernice T. Robarge, 71, 167 NE Glendale Ave., Port Charlotte, died Oct. 2 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital there.
The former Bernice Ajeska was born in Rhinelander and moved to Charlotte County a year ago. She is survived by her husband, Wilfred J. Robarge; two brothers, Arthur Ajeska of Warm Mineral Springs and Chester Ajeska of San Leandro, Calif; a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Weber of Port Charlotte, and one niece.

Adam Mancheski
Adam Mancheski , owner and operator of a meat and grocery business at 418 N 2nd street for many years, died this morning at 8:30 o’clock at his home at 420 North Second street.
Mr. Mancheski had been in ill health for the past two years. His condition became critical two months ago and he had been confined to bed since.
A native of Dunkirk, New York, Mr. Mancheski was born on December 20, 1870. During his childhood he came to Wisconsin with his parents, the late Frank and Mary Mancheski, locating on a farm in Portage County. He received an early education in Portage County, attending the public schools. His marriage to Miss Josephine Schultz of the town of Dewey took place 1894 in Dewey. After their marriage the couple lived on a farm in the town of Hull for a short time and then moved to Ashland. Mr. Mancheski was employed as a section hand on the old Wisconsin Central railroad and later was promoted to section foreman. The family returned to Stevens Point a few years later and Mr. Mancheski worked for a time as a stationary fireman in paper and saw mills.
In 1905 he purchased the property at 418 North Second street and established the meat and grocery business which he operated until 14 years ago. At that time he retired, renting the business for a time and nine years ago, a son, Ben, took it over and has been operating it since. Mr. Mancheski also owned considerable other business property here.
Surviving are seven children, Edward, residing in the state of Washington, Mrs. John Koss, 310 Fredrick street, Miss Gertrude, Ben and Fabian Mancheski at home, Mrs, Frederick Holzknecht of Milwaukee and Mrs. Peter Schroder, 410 North avenue; two brothers, Dominic Mancheski, 417 North Second street, and Joseph Mancheski of Milwaukee, two sisters, Mrs. Josephine Kurszewski of Stevens Point, and Mrs, John Clark of Menasha and two grandchildren. Mrs. Mancheski died October 17, 1929.
Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock at St. Peter’s church and burial will follow in Guardian Angel cemetery. The body is at Prais funeral home where the rosary will be said tonight and Saturday and Sunday nights at 7:30 o’clock.

Mr. Mancheski is of Polish ancestry, has come to success through the avenue of hard labor and long continued work both for himself and others, andd is a man of plesant and genial manner and has hosts of friends in Portage County.
Mr. Mancheski was born at Dunkirk, New York, December 20, 1869. His parents, Frank and Mary Mancheski, were born in Poland, and many years ago immigrated to the new world and settled in New York. Later they came to Portage County, Wisconsin, locating on a farm, but finally moved back to Dunkirk, New York, where both of them are still living. Their children were: Margaret, deceased; Adam; Josie; George; who died at the age of twenty-one; Frank; Kate, who was likked by a train in Green Bay; Nicholas; and Joseph.
Adam Mancheski received his early education and rearing in Portage County, attending the public schools. He did his fors regular labor as a wage earner as a section hand on the railroad. He was promoted to section boss and later for some years was a stationary firemen in paper and saw mills. About 1905 he invested his capital and experience in establishing a meat market and grocery at 418 North Second Street in Stevens Point, and has kept this business growing and flourishing with an ever wider circle of patrons to the present time. Mr. Mancheski also own considerable business property and his home at 420 North Second Street.
He is a democratic voter and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. In 1894 Mr. Mancheski married Miss Josephine Schultz, of Dewey Township, Portage County. She is the daughter of Martin and Kate Schultz. Her mother died in 1913 but her father still lives on the old farm in Dewey Township. Mr. and Mrs. Mancheski became the parents of twelve children: Edward, who is now serving in the American Army, fighting for the ideas of American democracy and the freedom of the land of his ancestors; Peter and Hattie, both deceased; Ida; Getrude; Celia; Benjamin; Harry, deceased; Frank, deceased; Genevieve; Dorothy and Dominic, deceased.

Boyhood Resident Killed by Train in Western State
Edward Mancheski, age 51, a boyhood resident of Stevens Point, who has been residing in the state of Washington, was fatally injured Saturday morning when he was hit by a train in the Seattle vicinity. Detailed information has not been received by local relatives. The body is being brought to Stevens Point and is expected to leave Seattle this evening. It will be at the Prais funeral home.
Mr. Mancheski was born on Dec. 19, 1895 in the town of Hull, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Mancheski. He came to Stevens Point during his childhood with his parents and his father established the Adam Mancheski Meat and Grocery Store at 418 North Second street. Edward Mancheski attended St. Peter's parochial school and then worked in his father's store. He later worked in Milwaukee, when he entered World War I service. Ater serving overseas he was honorably discharged and returned to Milwaukee, going west 15 years ago.
Surviving are six sisters and brothers, Mrs. Ida Koss of Medical Lake, Wash., Mrs. Gertrude Wysocki, Ben Mancheski, Mrs. Genevieve Schroeder and Fabian Mancheski of Stevens Point and Mrs. Lucille Holzknecht.

Ida Koss, 87, a former Stevens Point resident, died Jan. 31 at her home in Medical Lake, Wash.
Services were held on Feb. 4 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Rompa officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Medical Lake. The Ball & Dodd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Koss was born Jan., 23, 1900, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Adam and Josephine Mancheski. She was married to John Koss o Feb. 16, 1926, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stevens Point. They moved to Medical Lake in 1944, and she worked at the Eastern State Hospital for 18 years as a cook and in the dining room. She retired in 1965. Her husband died May 12, 1961.

Ida Koss
Ida Koss, 87, a former Stevens Point resident, died Jan. 31 at her home in Medical Lake, Wash.
Services were held on Feb. 4 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Rompa officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Medical Lake. The Ball & Dodd Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Koss was born Jan., 23, 1900, in Ashland, a daughter of the late Adam and Josephine Mancheski. She was married to John Koss o Feb. 16, 1926, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stevens Point. They moved to Medical Lake in 1944, and she worked at the Eastern State Hospital for 18 years as a cook and in the dining room. She retired in 1965. Her husband died May 12, 1961.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Ferrell, Medical Lake, and Mrs. Delphine Gilkay, 2901 Algoma St; two sisters, Mrs. F.A. Holzknecht, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Peter Schroder, 1033 Fourth Ave; one brother, Fabian Mancheski, 521 Hickory St., Whiting; and seven grandchildren.

Wysocki-Mancheski
Miss Gertrude Mancheski, 420 North Second street, and John Wysocki, 505 North First street, son of Mrs. Peter Stein of Elderon, were united in marriage Tuesday morning, August 6, at 8 o'clock at St. Peter's Catholic church, Rev. Leo Przybylski officiated.
The bridal gown of white marquisette was fashioned with a square neckline, puffed sleeves and a train, and was trimmed with lace. A seed pearl halo held the elbow lenght face veil and the long veil which fell in a long train. She carried white roses.
Miss Lillian Lukaszevig, who was the maid of honor, wore a powder blue marquisette gown, made with a swetheart (sp.) neckline with rosettes, puffed sleeves and a full skirt. She wore fresh flowers in her hair and carried a colonial bouquet of pink roses. Fabian Mancheski, brother of the bride, was best man.
After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schroder, 410 North avenue. Breakfast, luncheon and dinner were served to 65 guests. Garden flowers were the decorations. Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Stein and son, Joseph, of Elderon; Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Holzknecht and son, Freddie, of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Dominick Wysocki and son, Ronald, of Bevent; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wysocki and children, LeRoy and Dorothy of Tomahawk; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schultz of Polonia and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schultz of Torun.
After a two-weeks western trip the bride and groom will live on Union street. Mr. Wysocki is a foreman for the Lullabye Furniture corporation, and his bride is a clerk at Mancheski's store.
Before the wedding a shower was given at the home of Mrs. Pete Schroeder, with Mrs. F. A. Holzknecht and Mrs. John Koss as assisting hostesses. Bingo was played and the bride was presented a gift. Another shower was given by Mrs. Ben Lukaszevig. Cards were played and the guest of honor was given a gift.

Mrs. Gertrude G. Wysocki, 83, 441 Union St., died this morning at St. Michael's Hospital. She had been a patient the past week and was in ill health the past month.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald Przybylski will officiate. Burial will follow in the Guardian Angel Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the Dzikoski Funeral Home. A general rosary will combine with St. Peter's Rosary Society, of which Mrs. Wysocki was a member, at 7 p.m. Monday.
She was born Nov. 13, 1901, in Ashland, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Mancheski. She attended schools in Stevens Point.

Cecile (Lucille) Holzknecht, 83, Milwaukee, formerly of Stevens Point, died Sunday, Jan. 3, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Milwaukee.
Services were held at St. John Cathedral in Milwaukee.
Mrs. Holzknecht was born July 2, 1904, daughter of the late Josephine and Adam Mancheski. As a young woman, she was employed at Hanna's Ready to Wear, a clothing store inStevens Point.
She was married to F.A. Holzknecht on Sept. 7, 1936. They settled in Milwaukee. He died July 20, 1987.
Survivors include one son, Frederick John (Sharon), San Francisco, Calif; one granddaughter; one sister, Mrs. Peter (Genevieve) Schroder, 1033 Fourth Ave; one brother, Fabian (Rose) Mancheski, 521 Hickory St., Whiting.

The rosary will be recited tonight at 7 by St. Hedwig's Court No. 745, Women's Catholic Order of Foresters, of which a daughter, Arlene, is a member.
Berens-Scribner Post No. 6, American Legion, will conduct its ritual at 7:30 this evening. Mr. Mancheski, a World War II veteran, was a member of the post.
At 8 p.m. Wednesday, a general rosary will be said.
Mr. Mancheski was born in Stevens Point Feb. 4, 1907, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Adam Mancheski. He attended St. Peter's School and the old Stevens Point Normal School.
Until entering service, he operated a grocery store at 800 2nd St. He was in the Army from April to September 1943, and then was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc., for two years.
He reopened his grocery store after that and operated it until 1951, when he became an employe of Preway, Inc., in Wisconsin Rabids. mr.s Mancheski retired four years ago.
He is survived by his wife, the former Agnes Gollon; a son, Ralph, and two daughters, Kathleen and Arleen, all at home; a brother, Fabian, 521 Hickory St., Whiting; and four sisters, Mrs. Ida Koss, Spokane, Wash., Mrs. John (Gertrude) Wysocki, 441 Union St., Mrs. Fred (Lucille) Holzknecht, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Peter (Genevieve) Schroeder, 1035 4th Ave.
Three sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

John Koss
A former Stevens Point resident, John Koss, 60, Medical Lake, Wash., died Friday at a Spokane hospital.
Born in Stevens Point on March 19, 1901, he spent most of his life here. He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Koss Sr.
