Barton E. Palmer, Sr. - Funeral rites for Barton Edward Palmer, Sr., 48, 1019 Amity Ave., will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the First Methodist Church. The Rev. Keith Mills will officiate. Interment will be in Cloverdale. Friends may call at Relyea Chapel, Boise, until 5 p.m. today, at Shepherd Chapel from 6 to 9 p.m. today and until 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Mr. Palmer died Monday in a Boise hospital. He was born Dec. 6, 1917, in Oakland, Calif. He attended schools there. He served in the European Theater in World War II and later was in the painting business with his father in Oakland. In 1950, Mr. Palmer came to Nampa and established a painting business. Mr. Palmer was president of the Toastmaster Club No. 1269 and served on the committee of Boy Scout Troop 117. He was a member of Ashlar Lodge, AF&AM; Rainbow Chapter, OES; Joseph H. Murray Post, American Legion, and Nampa Elks Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Palmer; two sons, Barton E. Palmer, Jr., Caldwell, and Marvin Bruce Palmer, Nampa; a daughter, Mrs. Patricia Ann Goehring, Boise;
a brother, Alfred F. Palmer, Jr., Nampa; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Paque, Hayward, Calif., and Mrs. Virginia Nelson, Oakland; his father, Alfred F. Palmer, Sr., San Jose, Calif., and two grandchildren.

Mr. Palmer died Thursday, July 2, 1998 at his Magnoila home. He is suvived by wife Darlene of Magnolia; stepson Ken Njord, Sacramento; stepdaughters, Linda Hansen Mt. Vernon, Wash, and Joyce Blair, Sacramento; seven grandchildren; two great-gradnchldren; two sisters Virginia Nelson of Dublin, and Maetha Pauge of Pardise. Rose Chapel mortuaty is handling the arrangements.
