Mrs. James Isherwood
Mrs. James Isherwood, a lifelong resident of the Plover neighborhood and prominent in the affairs of the community, died at 11:25 o'clock Monday night at St. Michael's hospital, following a brief illness. She was taken sick on January 2 and was removed to the hospital on January 5. Her condition was critical from the beginning of her illness.
Mrs. Isherwood, whose maiden name was Matilda Mabel Smith, was born in the town of Plover on July 13, 1880. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Smith. She attended the Maine school and later took a business course in Stevens Point. Her marriage to Mr. Isherwood took place on December 15, 1901, and they had lived on their farm near the Plover-Buena Vista town line since that time.
An active member of the Isherwood Mothers' club and of St. Patrick's camp No. 4127, Royal Neighbors of America, of which she was chief oracle at the time of her death, Mrs. Isherwood was well known in her community. Mr. Isherwood is president of the Wisconsin State Potato Growers' association and treasurer of the Portage county drainage district.
Surviving Mrs. Isherwood are her husband, one son, Harry, who is attending the University of Wisconsin, and two daughters, Mrs. Harland McCormick of Plover and Hazel Isherwood, who teaches near Lake Geneva. Mrs. Isherwood also leaves two grandchildren, Shirley Ann and Noel Harland McCormick of Plover, two brothers, Walter N. Smith and Harvey J. Smith of Plover, and two sisters, Mrs. James Doran of Ashland and Mrs. Theodore Neilsen of Royalton.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the family home and at 2 o'clock at the Baptist church in Stevens Point, Rev. James Blake officiating. Following the church service the immediate relatives will go to the Boston funeral home, where the body will be placed in the vault to await burial in Plover cemetery in the spring. The body will be at the family home until the time of the funeral.
