John J. 'Whitey' Worzalla, 69, 1925 Kathy's Drive, Stevens Point, owner of a construction business and the former owner of the Park Ridge cafe, died Thursday, November 17, 2005, at his home. He had a long battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with the Rev. Alan Burkhardt officiating. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be at Boston Funeral Home from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and in St. Joseph's Family Center from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the services. An Elks Ritual will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday and a rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial will be established in his name at a later date.
Mr. Worzalla was born July 1, 1936, in Stevens Point, a son of late Irwin J. and Hildegard (Kostuck) Worzalla. He grew up in Stevens Point and attended St. Stephen Grade School, P.J. Jacobs High School and the vocational school.
He was married to Mary 'Kay' Kabat on June 11, 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She died June 21, 1993.
He worked for Hutter-Findorf Construction Co. in the early 1960s and then Ellis Stone Construction. He helped build the St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral in La Crosse in the 1960s, and was involved in the construction of a number of the residence halls at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, along with the old Portage County Jail, Stevens Point Area Senior High School, Sentry World Headquarters building and numerous homes in the area.
He later worked for the Holiday Inn and then Sentry Insurance in maintenance. He formed WW Construction Co., doing maintenance for Sentry Insurance.
He was an active member of the Stevens Point Elks Club for more than 33 years and was honored as Elk of the Year, 2001-2002, and Citizen of the Year in 1987. He was also a major part of the Elks Club Christmas Baskets of food and gifts to the needy every year.
He was a former owner of the Park Ridge Café, and current member of its Coffee Klutch group.
Survivors include two daughters, Heidi (Eric) Hirzy, Stevens Point, and Susan (Clint) Pfeil, Pewaukee; one son, Michael (Ann), Stevens Point; one brother, Bob, Seffner, Fla; three sisters, Patricia (David) Olsen, Stevens Point, Bonnie (Bill) Wright, Madison, and Yvonne (David) Kopperud, Mosinee; four granddaughters; and special friends, Diane and Robin Grave.

Edward Jacobson, 27, Owner of Car, Dies; Cychosz Funeral Tuesday
Edward G. Jacobson, 27, of 735 South Michigan avenue, died at St. Michael’s hospital at 6:05 p.m., Sunday, of injures received Friday night in an automobile accident on Highway 66 a mile east of Polonia in which Miss Pauline Cychosz, 17, was instantly killed and her sister, Mrs. Francese Lepak, received serious injuries.
The driver of the car, Otto Schneck, 25, escaped with minor cuts and bruises on the face and head when the car, a Ford V-8 coach belonging to Jacobson, hurtled 73 feet through the air after hitting a ditch of an intersection road.
Jury Views Bodies
A coroner’s jury consisting of Carl Larson, J.M. Marshall, John Jakusz, John Zyika, V.A. Landowski and Klemens Prais viewed the bid of Mss Cychosz Saturday afternoon and Jacobson’s body this afternoon. Coroner Victor S. Prais and District Attorney A.J. Aschenbrener said and inquest will be held later.
Mrs. Lepak received a broken arm, a shoulder injury and severe cuts and bruises abut the face and head. The car was totally wrecked, being consumed by fire after being badly damaged in the accident.
Ninth This Year
Jacobson’s death was the ninth automobile fatality in Portage county this year. None of the nine fatal accidents involved more than one motor vehicle.
Jacobson’s skull was fractured and he suffered other injuries.

Mr. Jacobson was born on May 15, 1911 in Stevens Point and had lived here all of his life. He attended school here and was graduated from the Stevens Point High school in 1931. After attending an electrical refrigeration school on Chicago for a year he was employed at the Wisconsin River Paper and Pulp company until 1936. Since that time he had been a representative of the Metropolitan Life Insurance company. He was a son of the late Mrs. Julia Jacobson.
His marriage to Grace Witkowski of Stevens Point took place n October 28, 1935, at St. Stanislaus church.
Surviving are his wife, a daughter, Eileen Kay, and a brother, Ray V. Jacobson, Stevens Point, Route 4
Funeral Wednesday
Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Stanislaus church and burial will follow in the family lot in Guardian Angel cemetery. The body is at the Crosby funeral home where it will remain until the time of the funeral. The rosary will be said Tuesday night at 8 o’clock.

She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in zoology and environmental studies. She also studied abroad for one semester in Costa Rica, doing research on the rain forest.
She worked for the Avenue Bar & Grill in Madison, the University Ridge Golf Course and the Caspian Café of Madison.
Survivors include her parents, Charlie and Laurie Grubba, Stevens Point; one brother, Scott (Lisa Camlek) Grubba, Stevens Point; her paternal grandmother, Janet Grubba, Stevens Point; aunts; uncles and cousins.

Miss Grubba was born June 7, 1980, in Stevens Point, a daughter of Charles and Laurie (McGill) Grubba. She attended local grade schools and graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High School in 1998, where she participated with the SPASH soccer and cross country teams.
She attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in zoology and environmental studies. She also studied abroad for one semester in Costa Rica, doing research on the rain forest.
She worked for the Avenue Bar & Grill in Madison, the University Ridge Golf Course and the Caspian Café of Madison.
Survivors include her parents, Charlie and Laurie Grubba, Stevens Point; one brother, Scott (Lisa Camlek) Grubba, Stevens Point; her paternal grandmother, Janet Grubba, Stevens Point; aunts; uncles and cousins.
