Emery J. Schultz, 72, Schofield, died Sunday, September 2, 2001, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.
Emery was born in Wausau on April 20, 1929, the son of John and Mary (Gusman) Schultz. He married Lorraine Zimbauer on June 16, 1951, at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau.
Emery served in the Navy from June 1947 to June 1950 on the USS Razorback Submarine. He was the owner/operator of Schultz's Weston Bar in Weston for 37 years. He was a member of the VFW Post No. 388 in Wausau, and the Lions Club. He had served on the board of directors of the Tavern League. Emery enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and shooting pool with his men's pool league. He liked campfires and telling stories while visiting with friends. He was very caring and giving to others.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lorraine, Schofield; his mother, Mary Schultz, Mosinee; three daughters, Diane, (Gene) Beeman, Clearwater, Fla., Sue (Lloyd) Borgh, Schofield, and Faye (Randy) Johnson, Topeka, Kan; one son, Michael J. Schultz, Schofield; one brother, David (Carmen) Schultz, Westhills, Calif; one sister, Joanne (John) Zywicki, Racine; three grandchildren, Michelle Rice, Clearwater, Fla., Eric Beeman, Clearwater, Fla., and Milissa Schultz, Wausau; three stepgrandchildren, Jessica, Jason and Loni; little great-granddaughter, Kylie Lynn Rice, Clearwater, Fla; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, John.
Services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2001, at St. Therese Catholic Church, Rothschild. The Rev. Robert Streveler will officiate, and the Rev. Thomas Abraham will co-officiate. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, town of Kronenwetter. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Hayden-Buettgen Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
